FOOLPROOF ARRANGEMENTS: An explosive detection squad scanning the approach road to Bandlapalli with the help of electronic gadgets and a sniffer dog on Monday.
BANDLAPALLI (ANANTAPUR DT.): Arrangements for the visit of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi to this small village in Narapala mandal for launching the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme on February 2 are in a full swing, as only two are left for the eventful occasion. District and State Government officials are supervising the preparations round the clock as per the specifications of the Special Protection Group, a team of which is already camping here. The SPG officials have struck down the proposal of the district officials to make use of the school building outside the village as the dais for public meeting. But, the SPG officials have asked the district administration to get a dais erected behind the school building. About 15 acres of endowment land is being used for the public meeting and other programmes to be participated by the Prime Minister, UPA Chairperson, Chief Minister, Union Minister for Rural Development and others.
