Court refuses more time on CAS
Earlier, the Information & Broadcasting Secretary S.K. Arora appeared before Justice Vikramjit Sen of the High Court and sought more time to decide the implementation of the new technology for viewing satellite channels but the Judge rejected his plea and reserved judgment on a petition by Hathway Cable and Datacom, a private company manufacturing instruments for CAS, seeking directions to the Union Government to implement the System. The Court had on January 23 summoned the Secretary in person to apprise it of the Centre's stand on implementing the System.
