CITU trains guns on United Progressive Alliance Government

Staff Reporter

`Changes in laws will hamper workers interests'

NALGONDA: State president of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) R. Sudha Bhaskar has called upon the working class to fight against the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government's reported "moves to bring in changes in some laws to hamper the interests of workers in the country."

Addressing the concluding session of the district unit meeting of the CITU on Monday, he said that efforts were on to amend acts such as Industrial Dispute Act and Contract Workers' Act. "If the Government goes ahead with its plans, the interests of the working class are going to suffer a lot," he warned.

Earlier, speaking to reporters, he said the Government's moves would help factories hire and fire their employees.

"The CITU will fight tooth-and-nail all attempts to amend such laws," he said adding that the trade union was ready to gharao members of Parliament to display its opposition to the Government's moves.
