IMA to approach rights panel

The city chapter of the Indian Medical Association has said they will approach all authorities concerned, including the National and State Human Rights Commissions, to complain about the `torture' inflicted on Dr. Vinod Kumar.

"We are not saying that the police should not have questioned him. But subjecting him to such `torturous ways' of interrogation is certainly not the method. Dr. Vinod Kumar is a senior member of the medical fraternity with over 30 years of service. Though he is not above the law, the police cannot unlawfully detain and `torture' him just based on some allegation," IMA office-bearers said.
