MADURAI : The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court confirmed the life sentence imposed by the lower court on three convicts in a double murder case. A Division Bench observed: "We are of the view that the circumstances culled out by the prosecution from the evidence on record formed a complete chain to bring home the guilt of all accused without giving room to any other hypothesis... " According to prosecution, Inbajothi Kalamani, office assistant in the Employees State Insurance Corporation Limited, and her daughter, Evergreen Felicity (12), were found murdered in their house at K. Pudur here in 1998. The doctor said the death could have occurred due to shock and hemorrhage as a result of multiple stab injury sustained on the neck by the mother and the minor girl could have lost her life, due to strangling. Subsequently, an auto rickshaw driver, Velusamy, who was engaged by the deceased to drop them at the workplace and school, and two of his associates, Saravanan and Pandi alias Vazhivittan Pandi, were arrested. They were apprehended following the statement of two prosecution witnesses who saw them entering the house of the deceased three days prior to the incident. Few valuables belonging to the deceased were recovered based on the statement of the accused.
