Jewellery, cash stolen from lodge

BANGALORE: Gold ornaments worth Rs. 5 lakhs and Rs. 7.6 lakhs in cash were allegedly stolen from a lodge near Majestic in Upparpet police station limits on Sunday night.

Police said Keshavamurthy, a jeweller from Chickpet area in Chitradurga, came to city along with a friend, Mahesh, on Sunday morning and checked in at a lodge. They left the room around at 9 a.m. and returned back in the afternoon. A few hours later, they again left the room and returned in the night.

Keshavamurthy found that in his absence somebody had allegedly entered the room by using duplicate keys and had taken 800 gm of jewellery kept in a box and the cash.

However another jewellery box containing 300 gm of gold jewellery was intact.
