A.E. Muthunayagam, Vice-Chairman, Kerala State Council for Science Technology and Engineering, will inaugurate the event. Recent research advances in the field of polymer composites have created opportunities to develop novel composites. The workshop will provide a forum to discuss state-of-the-art techniques in the field, besides providing a platform for researchers and entrepreneurs to interact with experts. The participants from industry, academia and research laboratories will explore advances in Natural Fibre Composites, that are environment-friendly; Nano Composites that have tremendous potential, and Recent Polymer Processing Techniques, that are of particular interest to industry. The researchers at Bishop Moore, which has been awarded NAAC certification at the B++ level, have done much work in the field of natural fibre composites, publishing results in scientific journals and presenting papers at international and national conferences. Under an Indo-German collaborative research programme sponsored by the Central Department of Science and Technology (DST) and its German counterpart DAAD, they have done studies in the field of natural fibre composites in cooperation with scientists of the Technische Universitat at Chemnitz, guided by Prof. Mennig. The workshop coincides with the visit of Prof. Mennig to Kerala in connection with the collaborative programme.
