Pineapple farmers institute award

This is the era of awards. There are any number of awards for an endless range of causes. Now, pineapple farmers too have launched their own award to be presented to the best pineapple farmer in the State. The name of the award has also been selected with care — `Pineapple Sree.'

This year's `Pineapple Sree' award was won by Noble John Amamthuruthil, a farmer based in Vazhakkulam, the hub of pineapple cultivation. The award carries a cash prize of Rs.5,000 along with a citation, memento, certificate and an ever-rolling trophy.

However, this award is not given every year. Perhaps taking into consideration the nature of cultivation, the best farmer will be selected every two years.
