Calicut University on Tuesday bade farewell to one of its employees in a unique way. The campus saw a day-and-night function to honour a caricaturist on the last day of his service as Assistant Registrar. Rachana, the cultural body of the Calicut University Employees Union, organised an exhibition of cartoons by A. Hameed on the day of his retirement. The cartoons displayed at the University Auditorium spoke at length about the current political scenario. Mr. Hameed did not spare anyone from the State and national politics. From Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Chief Minister Oommen Chandy to Calicut University Vice-Chancellor Syed Iqbal Hasnain, the cartoons gave the viewers something to laugh at and think about. Rachana also organised a musical evening to mark the occasion.
