KOCHI: It is an unprecedented opportunity for the thousands of young people, especially in Kerala, who are knocking at the doors of the Information Technology world for jobs to suit their qualifications and aspirations. The Kerala HRHQ Job Mart Fairway To Opportunities, perhaps the most noted section of the IT Kerala 2006 show from January 31, is just tailored to suit the ambitions of these young people. To the recruiters, it will be an opportunity to meet high-quality human resource. They will include ICMT and ITES companies and IT consultants. Seventeen big-time players in the field having confirmed their participation in the show what unfolds will have no parallel in the past, especially for Kerala that can boast of a rich tradition of talented and trained personnel. The Kerala IT Mission, organisers of the show, has already paved the way for a smooth conduct of the Job Mart, first of all by campaigning across the State to inform educational institutions about the show. Recent college graduates, final year students and candidates looking for new opportunities will find the show and the Job Mart ideal, it is hoped. The educational institutions have responded with equal enthusiasm as was evidenced by the flow of enquiries and online registration. The organisers said that traffic on its website, especially by those wanting to register for the Job Mart, had caused it to crash twice in the run-up to the show. Among the companies participating in the Job Mart are HP, Sutherland, IBS, U.S. Technology Resources, TCS, Dell, ICICI One Source, 24/7 and Rivulets. There will be a theme area to highlight the purpose of the event and booths and interview rooms that will enable one-to-one meetings, and chats are part of the arrangements. A large number of volunteers have been enlisted to see that the flow of jobseekers is conducted smoothly and the show goes off without a hitch. According to P. H. Kurien, IT Secretary to the Government of Kerala, about 25,000 young jobseekers are expected to attend the Job Mart. As early as a week before the IT Show, about 11,000 of them had already registered their names via the official website itkerala2006.com According to the latest information, 15,000 job seekers have registered for the Job Mart forcing the organisers of the show to stop online registration. It will now be an on-the-spot registration from January 31 mornings. Mr. Kurien said a fortnight ahead of the show that this would be the biggest show in Kerala under the ITES habitat initiative. It is also a big opportunity for the companies to make recruitments, he added.
