KOCHI: United Democratic Front (UDF) convener P.P. Thankachan has said that the Advocate General's report on the Lavalin deal will be presented in the next Assembly session, which will open on Friday. Mr. Thankachan was speaking at a meeting held here to open the reception committee office of the upcoming Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) State conference. He said the tabling of the report in the House would enable the MLAs and the public to grasp the implications of the deal, which had cost the State exchequer Rs.384 crores.
Chennithala's plea
Earlier, KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala, speaking after opening the reception committee office, had urged the UDF Government and the UDF convener to take steps to get the Lavalin report tabled. Mr. Chennithala said the five-day State conference, to be inaugurated by party president Sonia Gandhi on March 2, would be a turning point in Kerala's socio-political history. It would determine the course of politics in Kerala for years to come. It would also chalk out the strategy for the Assembly election due in May.
