The Kerala Government is organising a two-week art exhibition at Travancore Art Gallery on Kasturba Gandhi Marg in Delhi beginning this Wednesday. Titled "Garden of Black Roses", the exhibition will be inaugurated by the Governor of Meghalaya, M.M. Jacob. As part of the winter calendar, the gallery is displaying works of some big names in art."Garden of Black Roses" is an attempt to demonstrate development of modernity in the modern art of Kerala. The exhibition also sheds light on how artists from `God's own country' absorb changing realities and make them a part of their working and stylistic processes.
K.S. Radhakrishnan, one of the participants, is internationally acclaimed for his bronze sculptures. He will be displaying his latest works at the exhibition. C.N. Karunakaran and Kaladharan are other participating artists who have not only found a natural rhythm with the Kerala tradition but also succeeded in bridging the gap between tradition and modernity in art. These artists have been working for several years in and out of Kerala. Most of them have made a mark in the field of visual art with their own kind of aesthetics.
