Draw inspiration from freedom fighters students told

MYSORE: Gnanaganga Vidyapeetha Schools at Kuvempunagar celebrated the Republic Day with patriotic fervour. The invocation was rendered by Chaitra and S.V. Shuthi. Halathi Somashekar, vice-principal, Maharaja's Junior College, Mysore, was the chief guest. After unfurling the National Flag, he enlightened the students about the significance of the Republic Day.

Mr. Somashekar urged students to imbibe values and draw inspiration from freedom fighters and strengthen Indian democracy as the future citizens of the country. He said that democracy begins at school.

P.V. Ramachandra, principal of the school, who delivered the presidential address, advised students to study well and take part in all the activities of the school. Students Tanukshka, Samhiteshar, Maneesh and Deepthi spoke on the importance of Republic Day. Students presented PT drill, mime and rendered group patriotic songs. V. Akhila proposed a vote of thanks.

K.S. Shailaja, L. Umadevi, headmistresses of high school and primary school respectively, and other teaching and non-teaching staff were present.

Parents' Day

The Parents' Day celebrations of Gnanaganga Vidyapeetha Schools will be celebrated at Kalamandira on February 3 at 9.30 a.m. The programme will be marked by distribution of awards to SSLC examination toppers and cultural programme by children. Senior journalist Krishna Vattam will be the chief guest and Shanta Ramesh, Secretary, Gnanaganga Vidyapeetha, will preside.

Physics exhibition

The Mysore Public School here conducted an exhibition titled "Physics in daily life" on its premises recently. The exhibition was conducted by the School's Department of Physics to create awareness among students about the multidimensional achievement of Albert Einstein.

Various models depicting the use of Physics in daily life were on display. A few of the innovative models were solar cap, solar toy car, earthquake alarm and magnetic bomb, which drew the attention of the public. Aquib Manzoor, Sanjay Gowda, Laxmi, B.R. Narthan, Siddarth and Chittiappa, highlighted the significance of Einstein's work through models.

Mysore Public School opened a Science Centre named "Einstein Centre" to mark the International Year of the Physics. The exhibition marked the culmination of the year-long science activities initiated by school authorities.
