Bangalore: The Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) has codified standards for power transmission and distribution systems. The KERC has notified the State Grid Code for this purpose. The implementation of the code is expected to enhance the quality and reliability of power supply in the State. The Grid Code lays down guidelines and standards to be followed by the various agencies such as Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd., Karnataka Power Corporation Ltd., distribution companies, open access consumers, captive power plants and independent power producers. These agencies in the intra-State transmission and distribution network can now plan, develop, maintain and operate power systems in a more efficient, coordinated, reliable and economical manner. This will help meet the requirements of integrated operations with the inter-State transmission system of the Southern Regional Grid, KERC officials said. Details of the Grid Code are available on the website www.kerc.org.
