CONCERNED LOT: Students taking a look at their petition put up at Adarsh Vidyalaya in Chennai on Monday.

CHENNAI: "Dear Uncle, I really like our school. Please help us," read the message of one of the kindergarten students. This was one of the 700 messages that have been strung together by the Adarsh Senior Secondary School students, in a 150-metre-long petition to the President, seeking to revoke an order from the CBSE disaffiliating the institution.

Students from LKG to Class XII took three copies, which would be sent to the President, the Prime Minister and the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister. In 2005, the Central Board withdrew the school's affiliation citing poor condition of the building. The Central Public Works Department inspected the school and certified it was in good condition, says the Principal, S.K. Venkattassala Pandian.

The CBSE has however permitted students of classes X and XII to take up their board examinations in March. The school management has moved the High Court, which is pending.
