BANGALORE: The City police are correlating and analysing information about jihadi outfits received from Bangladesh and another country aboutthe attack on the Indian Institute of Science here, Bangalore Police Commissioner Ajay Kumar Singh said on Tuesday. Responding to reports about Bangladesh-based jihadi outfits operating in India, Mr. Singh said: "We have received information in this regard. As it relates to Bangladesh and another country (he did not specify the name), it takes enormous time [to correlate and analyse information.] But we are at it," he said. The Hindu on Tuesday published a report on new evidence about the involvement of a Dhaka-based terrorist cell in the IISc attack. Research and Analysis Wing communications intelligence personnel intercepted a conversation between Dhaka-based Naved Gul, wanted since 2003 for his alleged role in terrorist activities in Ahmedabad and Hyderabad, and his handlers in Pakistan. In the conversation, Gul drew attention to the IISc strike when his handlers asked him about the use of funds despatched to him from West Asia. The report also mentioned a meeting between the Bangalore police and their counterparts in Jammu and Kashmir to investigate possible links between Mujeeb Ahmad, a Hyderabad-based terror suspect questioned on the IISc attack, and jihadi organisations in Kashmir. On this, Mr. Singh said: "Our team questioned Ahmad, who is lodged in a Rajasthan prison. Another team had gone to Gujarat. The two teams have questioned several persons who are in judicial or police custody. Both teams returned on Monday with abundant material." Mr. Singh said the evidence gathered showed the involvement of Lashkar-e-Taiba in the IISc attack. "But we are yet to find the person or persons involved. We are yet to get clinching evidence related to the attack," he added. The police were in constant touch with their counterparts in other States and Central security agencies, he added.
