ANANTAPUR: The district police on Tuesday nabbed a seven-member gang of hired killers including a factional leader of Kurnool when they were on way to eliminate the latter's rival. A 12 bore tapancha, 12 country-made bombs and two hunting sickles were also seized from their possession. DSP of Tadipatri D. Narasimha Reddy told newspersons on Tuesday that the families of K. Laxminarayana Reddy and B. Ramanjaneyulu of Cherukulapadu village in Veldurthi mandal of Kurnool district were engaged in a factional feud two decades. Three persons were already killed on both sides. Father of Laxminarayana Reddy, Siva Reddy, was killed 10 years ago and the two uncles of Ramanjaneyulu, Chinna Beesanna and Laxmanna, were killed by the former's group last year. Ramanajaneyulu had reportedly planned to eliminate Laxminarayana Reddy. Accordingly he approached Peddanna in Nyamaddela village in Anantapur and gave a `contract' for Rs. 5 lakhs. An advance of Rs. 50,000 was also given to Peddanna. Peddanna had formed a gang of 12 members to complete the task. While Ramanajaneyulu had provided the gang with tapancha, they had procured bombs and sickles themselves. Peddanna and six members of the gang were nabbed by a team comprising CI Vijaykumar and SIs Raghavan and Umamaheshwar Reddy, when they were waiting for lorry to go to Veldurthi at Dharmapuram cross near Gooty on NH-7.
