ANANTAPUR: A housewife and her mother committed suicide by laying on a railway track, near Chennekothapalli village in the district on Tuesday evening. However, her eight-year-old daughter escaped with minor injuries.
`Harassment'
According to the police, Sannayappa, a weaver of Sivanagar area in Dharmavaram town, used to beat his wife and her mother regularly after consuming liquor. Unable to bear the harassment, his wife Nagamani, (40), her mother Maddayamma, (60), decided to commit suicide, along with his daughter Jyothi, (8). They lay on the railway tracks, on the outskirts of the village. They were run over by the passing Kurla-Coimbatore Express.
