NEW DELHI: The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has withdrawn Delhi referee Bikramjit Purakayastha "until further notice" following the match report of the match commissioner in the NFL match between Mahindra United and Fransa Club in Goa on Monday. Mahindra had won 2-1 with the match-winner in the 82nd minute coming off a controversial penalty award. The AIFF has also decided not to award any match to referee Saji Kurian pending a report from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) on the Manipur-Goa match in the last Santosh Trophy. The video tapes of that match have been sent to the AFC. An AIFF release on Tuesday stated that since the AIFF President had told the annual general meeting that a decision on the issue would be made known by the end of January, this was only an interim measure till further action by the AFC. — Special Correspondent
