PATNA: Worried over abduction of school children, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday directed the State police to constitute a `Special School Task Force' to patrol school areas during morning hours as majority of kidnappings had taken place while students were on way to schools. Mr. Kumar also asked the DGP to launch a special drive to check sale of drugs and obscene magazines outside school premises. He asked school managements to have uniform school hours so that police could effectively patrol the areas.
Safety
The directives were issued after an interface the Chief Minister had with teachers, guardians and members of school managements to draw strategies for safety of the students. Following the meeting, Mr. Kumar directed Chief Secretary G S Kang, State police Chief Ashsish Ranjan Sinha and Home Secretary H C Sirohi to chalk out an action plan to check kidnapping, accidents and sale of drugs and obscene magazines near schools. Assuring the visitors that the Government was committed to provide security to schools and students, Mr. Kumar said ``I am no less worried than you about kidnappings. We are monitoring the cases and I am personally in touch with the police officials''.- PTI
