Ex-MLA dead

HYDERABAD: Vijaya Sikhamani (60), former MLA who represented Tirupati constituency in 1972, died here on Monday following brief illness. He is survived by three daughters.

He was president of the Prakasam Institute of Development Studies and Potti Sreeramulu Centenary Celebrations Committee as also of Andhra Pradesh Christian Forum.

In a message, Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy condoled his death. He said Sikhamani was a grass-root politician known for his selfless public service. The State had lost a veteran who always believed in value-based politics, he said.
