Priority for problems of Gulf workers, says Ravi

NEW DELHI:
The problems of the five million Indian workers in the Gulf countries would get priority attention, Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi told mediapersons after taking charge here on Tuesday.
According to Mr. Ravi, efforts would be made to modernise the office of the Protector General of Emigrants and streamline its working to make the migration process transparent and orderly.
Voting rights
On the demand for voting rights for non-resident Indians, he said the Ministry had initiated action, and he would pursue it with the Law Ministry.
