Health camp

CHENNAI: Over 400 people were screened for various ailments at a camp conducted by the National Service Scheme of Quaide Milleth College in Medavakkam in association with Hindu Mission Hospital, West Tambaram, on Sunday.

An exhibition on leprosy

Gremaltes Hospital and Indian Development Foundation conducted an exhibition on leprosy on Monday at Chennai Central Suburban Railway Station from 8 a.m. to noon. A. Subramaniam, deputy station manager, inaugurated the exhibition where over 17,000 leaflets on leprosy were distributed and over 3,000 persons made enquiries. At a valedictory function organised at the hospital in Shenoy Nagar, 160 students from various colleges participated.

School annual day

The 20th annual day of M.A. Krishnaswamy Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Villivakkam, was held on Sunday at Anna Nagar. V. Kalyanasundaram, deputy director general and chief of Southern Region, Bureau of Indian standards, Taramani, presided the function and distributed prizes to meritorious students.

M.K.M. Matriculation School at Mugalivakkam in Porur celebrated its third annual day recently. The function was marked by cultural programmes by students and attended by celebrity guests such as actor R. Pandiarajan. The S. Kalyanasundarampillai Educational Trust runs the school.

Blood donation

At a camp held on Sunday at Cathedral Church in Santhome, Lions Club of Egmore collected 110 units of blood. The camp was conducted in association with Lions Blood Bank, Egmore.

Programme to tackle stress

Corp Masters will organise a five-day programme, `yoky,' to tackle stress, the ill effects of sedentary lifestyle and the demanding nature of a bank officer's job. The programme will begin on February 12 with a master health check up. Cardiovascular risk analysis test, besides tests for lipid profile, haemoglobin, hepatitis-B, diabetes and blood pressure will be done. Performance management

A lecture on `Performance Management' was organised by Guru Shree Shantivijai Jain College for Women on Friday at the college. Roy J. George, vice-president, Human Resources, Satyam Cinemas, addressed the students.

Balavidyalaya clarifies

Responding to a report published in these columns on January 24 ("Music to the ears of the hearing impaired"), Saraswathy Narayanaswamy of Balavidyalaya says the child is studying in "Silver Beach Singaram Pillai School for the Hearing Impaired".

It is not a branch of Balavidyalaya

(as mentioned in the columns on January 24).

The Rotary Club of Silver Beach along with Singaram Pillai Group of Schools runs it. Only teachers are trained in Balavidyalaya Institute for Teacher Training.
