CHENNAI: Volunteers of the NCC's Armoured Squadron took out a rally on Monday to highlight the eco-hazards of plastic.

About 800 cadets from schools and colleges in the city marched along the thoroughfare holding placards urging the public to restrict use of plastic and avoid burning of plastic waste which polluted the environment. Volunteers also explained to inquisitive onlookers the short term and long term hazards from using plastic.

The rally which set out from the Madras Medical College grounds covered around five kms before concluding at the same venue. Col. Alex Chandran and Anees Ahmed, senior officer, were among the officers who led the march. The NCC unit also observed Martyr's Day.
