Republic Day fervour in schools On how to excel in life


Bangalore: Patriotic zeal was evident in students at the Republic Day celebrations held in Delhi Public School, Bangalore North. They presented a dance on social evils and religions of India. Jija Madhavan Hari Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of Mysore Minerals Limited, was the chief guest. She stressed the need for sincerity, hard work and diligence to excel in life. Principal Sneh Preet Sial, in her welcome speech, said students play a prominent role in making the nation free from corruption, poverty, illiteracy and inequality.

Ballet and skit

At the Republic Day celebrations at Vagdevi Vilas School, Munnekolalu, students presented a ballet on the theme "Vande mataram" and skit on "Arise and awake". Dr. B.D. Patel, Founder President of Karnataka Qualified Homoeopathic Doctors' Association, the chief guest, told the students to be proud of the motherland and carry its values everywhere.


Sports meet

A.V. Education Society, J. P. Nagar conducted its 38th annual sports meet recently. Sanjay Raju, international basketball player and ex-student of the school, was the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony. He emphasised the need for continuous practice, dedication and determination to excel in sports. Tagore house bagged the rolling trophy by collecting maximum points.

A time to relish

Oxford English High School, Nagarabhavi, organised Food Carnival 2005-06 recently. Held for the sixth consecutive year, it was an event in which students helped each other and prepared the dishes. The dishes ranged from mouth-watering chats to different varieties of sweets to baby-corn delights. Children had made menu cards, invitations and decorated their classes.


Annual day

Sri Sri Ravishankar Vidya Mandir, J.P. Nagar, celebrated its fifth annual day recently at Shivarathreeshwara Centre, Jayanagar. Alok Mohan, Inspector General of Police, Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force, who was the chief guest, lauded the value-based education imparted by the school. He said that an individual is able to face challenges of life better if he receives quality education. Yezdi Batliwala, Trustee, Sri Sri Ravishankar Vidya Mandir Trust, inaugurated the programme. Surjit Verma, an educationist from Canada, who has been training teachers of the Sri Sri Ravishankar Vidya Mandir schools all over India, was felicitated on the occasion. He told parents to instil confidence in children.

Makkala Mela

As part of Suvarna Karnataka Rajyotsava celebrations, Rajajinagar Parents' Association Educational Institutions organised Makkala Mela and Nada Ranjani programmes recently.

At the two-day celebrations held at RPA Silver Jubilee Auditorium in Rajajinagar, children presented various folk dances of Karnataka. They also sang folk songs and presented a dance-drama "Natya Sangama".
