Flash strike in Mumbai
Mumbai/New Delhi:
Over 2,500 workers at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport went on a flash strike on Tuesday in protest against the privatisation of the Delhi and Mumbai airports.
Shortly after the Government announced the selection of bidders for the revamp of the two metro airports, the workers went on strike. There was no disruption of flight traffic.
Employees of the Airports Authority of India have decided to go on an indefinite strike from Wednesday.
Earlier in the day, services at the NSC Bose International Airport in Kolkata, barring flight traffic, were affected as over 2,000 workers staged a sit-in.
About 400 employees participated in a sit-in at the administrative building of the Thiruvananthapuram airport.
In Tamil Nadu, employees gathered at the old airport area and raised slogans against privatisation.
