Students of Government schools showcase their talent

Hyderabad: It was fun all the way for children. They played, sang and showcased their talent. The two-day `Bala Vigyan Mela', which commenced here on Tuesday, brought out the hidden skills of the children in Government schools.

Nearly 500 students from 32 Government schools in Asifngar mandal took part in various competitions such as elocution, essay writing, drawing, memory test, and poetry recital.

The programme was organised by the Naandi Foundation with a view to bring about qualitative improvement in Government schools. V. Madhusudan, additional project coordinator, Sarva Siksha Abhiyan, inaugurated the event at Government Primary School, Kulsumpura.

The children showed their competitive skills through exhibits on science. Under the theme `Women in science' they put up charts explaining the achievements of women scientists. There were also exhibits on education, mathematics and industrial development.
