Dalit students' death: probe sought
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD:
The Andhra Pradesh Girijana Sangham has alleged that 123 Dalit and tribal students of SC, ST, BC welfare and Gurukul institutions had died last year on account of viral fever, Japanese encephalitis and stomach pain.
It demanded a comprehensive probe into the deaths.
Putting forth the demand, R. Sriram Naik, general secretary, and K. Laxman Rao, secretary, in a statement on Tuesday sought financial assistance to the victims' families.
They criticised the administration for cutting down welfare budget and failing to improve facilities in the hostels/institutions.
