Charred body of woman found in L.B. Nagar

Staff Reporter

Husband disappears after leaving their 3-year-old-son with neighbours According to the police the woman set herself ablaze following an argument with her husband

HYDERABAD: Mystery shrouded the death of a housewife, Jhansi, 30, whose charred body was found in the hall of her house at Chandrapuri Colony in L.B. Nagar on Tuesday. The statement of neighbours that they saw the victim's husband Suneel Kumar hurriedly leaving the house raised suspicions of foul play.

"But we booked a case of suspicious death. There was no direct or indirect evidence to suggest it was a murder," L.B. Nagar Inspector Surender Reddy said. The couple had a three-year-old son whom Suneel handed over to the neighbours while leaving the place.

Police believe the woman had doused herself in kerosene and set herself on fire following an argument with the husband over a family matter. "Apparently scared over the incident, her husband might have left the place," the Inspector said.

Signs indicating that the woman ran in different directions apparently unable to bear the pain of burns were found. "Had it been a murder, the body should have been lying at one place," the police said.

Hailing from Kerala, Kumar was working for a private firm.
