Bangalore: The city has several landmarks known for musical concerts of different kinds. Rock groups from overseas such as Deep Purple, the Rolling Stones and rock star Bryan Adams (now scheduled to perform again next weekend) perform at the Palace Grounds. There was an amphitheatre behind Ravindra Kalakshetra where local rock bands used to perform. Freedom Jam has since then shifted elsewhere. For lovers of classical music, the popular venues have been the Gayana Samaja auditorium and T. Chowdiah Memorial Hall. For close to a year now, there has been another venue, in the open air and with a scenic beauty of its own, with classical music concerts held on a regular basis. With free entry, Kamat Bugle Rock, close to the rocky outgrowth and the park around it, has a stage and enough seating for large groups. "In a year's time we have arranged 170 classical music concerts, featuring mostly young and talented artists, besides some veterans,'' says Yamuna Kamat, Director, Kamat Yatri Nivas, a restaurant chain. She is also associated with the Mata Saraswathi Seshagiri Kamat Nitya Sangeet Utsav, which has been arranging the concerts. Kamat Bugle Rock was inaugurated last year when music programmes began to be held on weekends. From September, concerts have been held almost every evening.
