Roof of ayurveda hospital collapses

KOCHI: A portion of the tiled roof of the Government Ayurveda Hospital, Kacheripady, collapsed on Tuesday afternoon.

It was the roof of the women's ward which caved in at 3 p.m. Patients and bystanders had a lucky escape as they ran on hearing the sound of the wooden roof breaking. None was injured in the incident. Patients were shifted to the other wards in the hospital. Lack of timely maintenance is said to be the reason for the collapse. — Staff Reporter

Power supply to be disrupted

KOCHI: Power supply will be disrupted from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Karikkamury Cross Road on Wednesday due to maintenance work. — Staff Reporter

Succumbs to injuries

KOCHI: A worker succumbed to injuries which he sustained in a dynamite explosion at a quarry in Vazhakkala at 2.50 p.m. The victim M.S. Kumar, 27, is a native of Tirunelveli. Sources at the Ernakulam Medical Centre, where he was taken to, said that he died at 9 p.m. — Staff Reporter
