Anti-begging drive: 22 arrested

Thiruvananthapuram: The Varkala police have arrested 22 persons, including nine women, on the charge of using children for begging. The police rescued 14 children from their custody and sent them to a Government juvenile care home.

The arrested are migrants hailing from Ananthapur district in Andhra Pradesh. They were produced before the court on the charge of violating the Juvenile Justice Act and remanded to 14 days in judicial custody.
