This Day That Age
The Union Commerce and Industry Minister, Mr. T.T. Krishnamachari, has expressed the hope that Prime Minister Nehru would continue to lead this country "for a long, long time to come - until we can provide a second line." Unveiling a statue of Mr. Nehru at the Birla Vidya Vihar in Pilani on January 31, he said, "Mr. Nehru told us a year and half back he would like to be away and he referred to it again on January 30. Of course, we have every hope that he will be with us for a very long time because, though every other person in the administration is dispensable, we cannot dispense with Jawaharlal. We hope that he will be given to us for a long time so that during that period these shaking feet of ours will become firm and our determination to build an independent and powerful country will become deep-rooted."
