Three Lashkar militants arrested
Special Correspondent
KOLKATA:
A plot suspected to have been hatched by extremists of the Lashkar-e-Taiba to commit acts of sabotage in the city has been foiled with the arrest of three activists of the extremist group from central Kolkata, Jamshedpur and Varanasi over the past two days.
Tariq Akthar, stated to be an expert in the manufacture and use of explosives, was arrested from a place in Madan Street in the city on Tuesday night.
He had joined the militant Islamic outfit during his three-year stay in Qatar in West Asia and has subsequently spent time both in Pakistan and Bangladesh where he was trained in the use of indigenous explosives.
