CHIKMAGALUR: C.T. Ravi, MLA, said here on Wednesday that he will try to find a solution to the Datta Peeta dispute at Bababudangiri. Mr. Ravi told presspersons that any problem can be solved if the parties' concerned so desire. He quoted the Idgah Maidan dispute in Hubli as an example. He said he will discuss the issue with leaders of various political parties and different communities and try to arrive at a solution within the framework of the law.
Tour of MLAs
Mr. Ravi said the expansion of the Ministry will be undertaken after the vote of confidence. Asked to comment on the need for legislators to be taken on a tour, he said his party had decided that MLAs should stay together after observing the methods used by the Congress to form the government in Goa and Jharkhand. About the development work taken up in Chikmagalur Assembly constituency, he said the Government has sanctioned Rs. 3.08 crores under the Integrated Development of Small and Medium Towns Scheme for Chikmagalur city. This includes Rs. 25 lakhs for a shopping complex near Azad Park, Rs. 30 lakhs for construction of a vegetable market, Rs. 25 lakhs for the development of weekly market and Rs. 70 lakhs to build a modern slaughterhouse and mutton market. About Rs. 32 lakhs will be spent to create parking facilities on M.G. Road and a junction for pushcart vendors. He said shops will be built at the truck terminal at a cost of Rs. 36.50 lakhs and work on a private bus stand is in progress. Mr. Ravi said the KSRTC bus stand will be upgraded at a cost of Rs. 1.25 crores. The Government has made a special grant of Rs. 10 lakhs for 10 temples and has formed the Aradhana committee. He said the grant of Rs. 1 crore announced by Chief Minister N. Dharam Singh during his visit to Chikmagalur recently had not materialised. Sources in the Finance Department informed him that Mr. Dharam Singh had given such assurances in more than 65 places. Full-fledged development of all major roads in his constituency has been taken up and will be completed before the end of April this year. Mr. Ravi said the Karnataka Road Development Corporation has sanctioned Rs. 2 crores for the development of 6 km of Kadur-Mangalore road in Chikmagalur. He said Rs. 49.75 lakhs is being spent for a link road from Shankarapura to the bypass. About Rs.40 lakhs has been released for the Bilikere-Tarikere road and Rs. 89 lakhs for constructing a new regional transport office here.
