Namakkal man held in job scam

CHENNAI:
Police arrested Vadamalai (57), of Namakkal, on Tuesday on charge of cheating people by promising them jobs abroad. Murugesan (28) of Krayur village, Namakkal, complained that Vadamalai and Abdullah Basha (57), of Vaniyambadi, had promised him a job in London. He paid Rs. 4.25 lakh to them.
The duo had collected similar sums from 37 others in March last.
Murugesan and the others were taken to Tanzania and asked to stay there till they got visas for the U.K. Selvaraj, son-in-law of Vadamalai, received them in Tanzania.
He lodged them in a house for over a month. In April, they were dropped near an airport in Tanzania. Before leaving them, Selvaraj allegedly collected $3,990 from each of them.
