Two killed in accident

Two persons were killed and 27 others injured when two vans collided at Manthiripalayam, near Palladam, on Wednesday night. The police said that one person died on the spot and another at Palladam Government Hospital.

The Dean of the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, P. P. Kalaniti, said many of the victims brought to the hospital had suffered head injuries.

Online quiz

The Coimbatore Institute of Technology will conduct a symposium - Interface 2006 - on February 3 and 4. Students from all over India can participate in the online quiz. Details of the quiz can be had from www.interface2006.com/register.htm or www.interface2k6.com.

Relocated

The Ram Nagar branch of the ICICI Bank has been relocated at No. 16, Shastri Road, opposite Ramar Koil, Ram Nagar, from No. 5, Rajaji Road. It will remain open for transactions from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. (Monday through Saturday).

Power shutdown

There will be no power supply in Pattanam and Gandhi Nagar on February 2 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to a release.

February 3 (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.): Annur, Kuppapalayam, Odderpalayam, Kembanacikenpalayam, Kariyampalayam, Paduvampalli, Pogalur, Ganesapuram, Pasur.

Seminar

RVS College of Arts and Science will conduct a seminar on emerging scenario in financial services on February 3. According to a release, technical sessions will be held on the present scenario in the banking sector, recent trends in mutual funds, financial services and capital markets. More than 100 students, research scholars and faculty are expected to attend.
