Chennai: After the successful Asia Cup campaign in Pakistan last month, the Indian women's cricket team, captained by Mithali Raj, will tour Australia and New Zealand in February and March. The team is currently undergoing a nine-day training camp at the MRF Pace Foundation. "Our batswomen are in very good form and the current team is doing very well. The wickets at the MRF Pace Foundation will help us in getting used to the kind of pitches that we will get there," said coach Sudha Shah. Mithali said that the main focus of the camp was to iron out the weaknesses.
The team: Mithali Raj (capt.), Anjum Chopra, Neetu David, Jaya Sharma, Nooshin Al Khadeer, Karuna Jain, Jhulan Goswami, Rumeli Dhar, Amita Sharma, Devika Palshiker, Monica Sumra, Reema Malhotra, Sulakshana Naik and Sunetra Paranjpe; Coach: Sudha Shah; Manager: Anjali Pendarkar; Physio: Shiv Shankar; Trainer: Siva Kumar. The itinerary: Australian tour: Feb. 14-15: Two-day game against South Australia; Feb. 18-21: Test match; Feb. 23: Practice game against South Australia; Feb. 25: First ODI; Feb. 26: Second ODI; Feb. 28: Third ODI. New Zealand tour: March 2: First one-day game against New Zealand `A'; March 3: Second one-day game against New Zealand `A'; March 5: First ODI; March 7: Second ODI; March 10: Third ODI; March 12: Fourth ODI; March 14: Fifth ODI.
