Ravi's visit sans official paraphernalia

Vayalar Ravi's first visit to his home State as Union Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs turned out to be one sans official paraphernalia.

The occasion was highly personal and solemn, as he came to attend the memorial service of his grandson.

After the ceremony, he left for Thiruvananthapuram to meet Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, recuperating from a hip fracture he suffered in Davos.

Mr. Ravi will leave for New Delhi on Friday morning.

The District Congress Committee has decided to accord a grand reception to him during his next visit.
