VISAKHAPATNAM: The recent flooding of Visakhapatnam airpot due to heavy rain brought disrepute to the city and serious efforts were being made to prevent such incidents, according to Parliamentary Standing Committee Chairman of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Visakhapatnam MP N. Janardhan Reddy. He disclosed this to the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Eastern Naval Command, Vice-Admiral Sureesh Mehta when the latter called on him on Thursday and invited him for the Presidential Fleet Review (PFR) to be held in the city on February 12. The duo also discussed the ongoing arrangements for the PFR. Mr. Reddy said that expansion of the airport was on. The development plan of new terminal complex at the airport would be ready shortly and night-landing facility would be provided by early next year, he stated. The MP expressed happiness that Visakhapatnam was put on the international map as far as Defence was concerned.
