Paddy procurement high, says Collector

`2,108 tonnes bought in 20 days'

ERODE: The Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation has procured 2,108 tonnes of paddy since January 13, 2006 from procurement centres in the district, Collector D. Karthikeyan said.

The quantity was high, considering it was procured in just 20 days, he said.

The paddy procurement centres functioned at Senapathypalayam, Bhavani, Gobichettipalayam, Sathyamangalam, Perundurai, Kangeyam, Dharapuram, Sivagiri, Kodumudi, Elumathur and Avalpoondurai.

Reasonable amount

The Government paid a reasonable sum for the paddy, the Collector said.
