Power, water supply hit at Kolkata airport

Special Correspondent

No significant disruption of services

Kolkata: There was no significant disruption of services at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport here, where a few flights were rescheduled on Thursday.

However, passengers and airline staff had a harrowing time following a near-breakdown of facilities as the strike by Airports Authority of India staff against privatisation of the Mumbai and Delhi airports entered the second day.

Power and water supplies were severely affected; conveyor belts, the aerobridge and the air-conditioning systems remained inoperative with about 3,000 employees staging a demonstration outside the domestic and international terminals through the day.
