Indian Bank enters semifinal league

Namakkal: Favourite Indian Bank (Chennai) got the better of A.N. Dyaneswaran Basketball Club (Tiruchi) 65-29 and entered the men's semifinal league of the 15th State-level basketball tournament at the South School grounds here on Wednesday night.

The results: Men: Texcity BBC (Karur) 70 (Pandia Raja 15, Daniskode 19) bt West Zone Police 60 (Gopinath 17, Saravanan 16); Indian Bank (Chennai) 65 (Dinesh 19, Aravind 17) bt A.N.D BBC (Tiruchi) 29 (Nataraj 10); BSNL (Chennai) 49 (Gnanavel 10) bt Karur BBC 30 (Hariharan 10, Prabhakar 10).

Women: Sun Flower BBC (Chidambaram) 62 bt Kamalam Achi BC (Thanjavur) 34.

Bharathi holds Jothi

At Palayamkottai: Jothi Sports Club, Palayamkottai and Bharathi Hockey Club, Thittankulam, Kovilpatti were involved in a 1-1 draw in the last match of the three-team Tirunelveli Regional Hockey league here on Thursday. Mahesh scored for Jothi Club and Solomonraj scored for Bharathi Club.

In an earlier match, Bharathi Hockey Club was held to a 2-2 draw by Town Hockey Club, Ramanathapuram.

Selvamurugan and Solomonraj scored for Bharathi Club. Venkatesan and Satheeshkumar scored for Town Club. Jothi Sports Club emerged winner, topping the league table with 4 points.

JJ CET posts win

At Tiruchi: Prakash and Fabin Jude Gomes scored in JJ CET's 2-0 win over National College in the Tiruchi District Football Association second division `B' zone league match here on Thursday. The match between P.R Thevar FC and Challenge Union FC finished in a goalless draw.

In the third division `A' zone league matches, Red Rose FC blanked Rising Moon FC 4-0. David, Mahendra, Sultan and Anand scored for the winner. SQAE beat Young blood 1-0 with Kumar netting the winner.
