CHENNAI: Actor Simran inaugurated the Crafts Utsav at the CP Art Centre on Eldams Road here on Thursday. Around 65 artisans from various States will display their handicrafts till February 12 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Handicraft items of wood, white metal, brass, black metal, stone and terracotta will be available.

Rajasthani and Hyderabadi pearl jewellery, besides jewellery with semi-precious stones and one-gram gold, comes at a 15 per cent discount. A wide variety of handlooms with salwar kameez sets and churidars, zari work and cotton bags have a 20 per cent discount. All other handicrafts will have a 10 per cent discount. Rahul Sharma, an organiser, said Crafts Utsav aimed to find a collective means of giving a new lease of life to handicrafts, in a statement released to the press. CP Arts Centre is at 1, Eldams Road, Alwarpet.
