DMK chief's appeal to alliance partners

CHENNAI: Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam president, M.Karunanidhi, on Thursday requested parties in the Democratic Progressive Alliance not to give space to outsiders who were trying to create a rift in the alliance.

Quoting Communist Party of India (Marxist) state secretary N.Varadarajan, he said that he welcomed the statement that the aim should be to defeat the AIADMK government and that parties should contest seats where this aim could be fulfilled.

Despite his having stated that the seat sharing talks will begin only after the election announcement is made, he has seen in the press speculations on number of seats for various partners, he said.
