BANGALORE: Four persons allegedly stabbed to death an autorickshaw driver in Hebbugodi police station limits on the outskirts of the city on Wednesday night. The police gave the name of the victim as Shiva Kumar, alias Kumar (25), a resident of Naganathapura, off Hosur Road. The police said that around 9.45 p.m., Kumar left his house on a motorcycle with his friend Manjunath. As they were going to Hebbugodi, four men waylaid them on the outskirts of Naganathapura. They stabbed Kumar in the chest and abdomen with a knife, killing him instantaneously. Manjunath, who escaped, went to Kumar's house and informed his family members. The Hebbugodi police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the assailants, who were allegedly led by Venkatesh.
Life imprisonment
The IV Fast Track Court has convicted and sentenced to life Venkatesh of T. Dasarahalli for murdering his wife Uma, a mother of three. The Peenya police had filed a charge sheet in the court that Ventatesh and Kamalamma had doused Uma with kerosene and set her on fire on January 20, 2005. Uma, who sustained burns, died on February 3, 2005. According to the charge sheet, Uma was opposing Venkatesh's alleged affair with Kamalamma. The two allegedly hatched a plan to kill Uma, and set her on fire. Kamalamma is reported to be absconding.
