New responsibility

Despite the efforts by the west and Israel, Hamas has emerged victorious in the recent Palestinian elections. Khalid Misha'al's article, `Hamas ready for a just peace' (Feb. 1) clearly indicates the reason for its triumph. It is a bigger responsibility the people of Palestine have now placed on the shoulders of Hamas, which has already cleared the litmus test on sincerity towards the Palestine cause. I hope this victory will further strengthen anti-imperialist movements.
