KOLLAM: Kollam First Class Additional Session Judge P. Mohandas on Friday sentenced Manaf Subair to rigorous imprisonment for life after the court found him guilty of murdering Azad Abdul, who was in love with his sister. The incident took place on the night of March 21, 2003, at Pallithottam in the city. The prosecution told the court that Azad was stabbed to death by Manaf in front of a madrasa at Pallithottam. A profusely bleeding Azad was admitted to the District Hospital and later shifted to the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The case was investigated by a police team led by the then Crime Detachment Dy. SP at Kollam, K. Kailasnath. Though there were three eye witnesses to the incident, during the course of the trial, two turned hostile, said the Special Prosecutor Paripally Ravindran.
