BANGALORE: The new Chief Minister, H.D. Kumaraswamy, lent a helping hand to Director-General and Inspector-General of Police B.S. Sial who fell down as supporters rushed forward to greet the Chief Minister at the Vidhana Soudha on Friday afternoon.

When Mr. Kumaraswamy was coming out of the Conference Hall after addressing a press conference, his supporters rushed towards him. Mr. Sial, who was escorting the Chief Minister, fell down when Mr. Kumarswamy's supporters and some media persons pushed him.

Mr. Kumaraswamy and some policemen helped the State Police chief get up.

The Chief Minister, who was visibly upset over the incident, waved at his supporters and asked them to maintain order. The supporters walked out of the Vidhana Soudha shouting "Kumaraswamy zindabad."

Earlier, the glass cabinet in the Chief Minister's office was shattered when the supporters tried to rush in to witness Mr. Kumaraswamy occupying the Chief Minister's chair. There was a heated exchange of words between police officials and media persons who tried to enter the Chief Minister's chamber.
