Dharam Singh attends ceremony

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: True to his attitude of forgive and forget, outgoing Chief Minister N. Dharam Singh attended the swearing in of the new Ministry here on Friday.

But what did not go unnoticed was the fact that Mr. Dharam Singh was without his usual retinue of Congress leaders and workers.

He was a loner both when he arrived and left the premises of the Vidhana Soudha after the swearing-in ceremony.

Mr. Dharam Singh, who led the first coalition against heavy odds for 20 months and without being at the receiving end of allegations, had only his Media Coordination Officer, H.B. Dinesh, with him when he arrived. The official was not to be seen when the former Chief Minister reached his car to return home.

An onlooker, reacted quoting a Kannada film song "Naguvaaga ella nentaru, aluvaaga yaaru illaa........."

Asked whether he felt bad or relieved, Mr. Dharam Singh said he had learned to take both happiness and sorrow in a balanced manner.
